Does that DR Field Brush really work? 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 2
I need to clear brush on a hillside and near a pond in an area that's too tricky and hilly for my tractor-pulled bushhog. I've seen those DR Field Brushes on TV, and that looks just like what I need. But they are really expensive, so I was hoping someone has had experience with them before I buy.

I have the DR Trimmer/Mower, which is smaller and cheaper than the DR Field & Brush mowers. Think of the Trimmer/Mower as a weed whacker on steroids. We got the self-propelled 8.25 HP electric start model.

It does what it does great: clears a small path through thick brush on uneven terrain. But it also has limitations.

Pros:
* Awesome as a trimmer
* Clears through up to 1/2" saplings with ease
* Relatively easy to start and use
* Good for hard to reach places like edges of ponds, buildings, small hills

Cons:
* Cannot climb hills or obstacles greater than 1" without good effort
* Very slow travel, must haul to location to use, cannot drive it there
* Cord often breaks if contacts metal or rock and is more expensive than normal cord
